this piece was created in photoshop cs2. i wanted to do black leather, but instead i did armor again. this is okay cause i was focusing on skin texture and hair texture, as i had just reviewed my Gnomon Workshop DVD's, i recommend the Ian McCaig 'visual story telling' 2 & 3. i am trying to understand how to paint faster and faster, i dont mind seeing brush strokes so long as they represent the feel for the character. i was wondering what others thought about the look of the skin and hair. thanks.

this piece was created in photoshop CS2 with a Wacom tablet (i highly recommend a drawing tablet). i was experimenting with stone texture armor, it seems most elements in the periodic table are being classified as metals, so why not make armor look like stone? i had to create various brushes to layout the random cracks and then went in with a finer point brush to 'deepen' the cracks. i did the same technique to add the scar on his cheekbone. this was all done after i blocked in solid colors that seemed to represent granite. i used other custom built brushes to quickly sketch in the monster eyes into the black background. i just want to know if anyone sees how i might improve the textures? or what sites i can visit to learn techniques?

hey everybody, i thought it would be funny to have a little predator meet a bigger person who is friendly, but the little Gobo is still frightened senseless. lol. i have an idea for a background, but does anyone want to throw in ideas? i sketched it in pencil first, then painted it in photoshop. the color palette was driving me crazy but seems to be working now. cheers.

this is an attempt to paint a friendly dragon using warm colors and a melancholy face. yeah it reminds me of something from the dark crystal, but Brian Froud has a pretty distinct style. i painted this using photoshop cs2. cheers.
